'Chair Has No Switch To Turn Off Mics': Lok Sabha Speaker Amid Row

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday stated the presiding officers don’t have any change or distant management to show off the microphones of members elevating points within the Home.

Mr Birla took robust objection to members casting aspersions on the Chair by alleging that after they rise to talk within the Home, their microphones are turned off by the presiding officers.

The allegation of the Chair turning the microphone off was a matter of utmost concern, the Speaker stated, including that he needed the Home to deliberate on the problem.

“The Chair solely offers ruling/directives. The member whose title known as will get to talk within the Home. The mic is managed as per the directives of the Chair. The particular person sitting within the Chair doesn’t have a distant management or a change for the microphones,” he stated.

Mr Birla stated the members of all political events have illustration on the panel of chairpersons who preside over the proceedings within the absence of the Speaker.

“It is a matter of the dignity of the Chair. A minimum of those that occupy the Chair mustn’t elevate such objections. (Okay) Suresh additionally occupies the Chair. Does the Chair have management of the mic,” the Speaker stated, addressing the Congress veteran.
