Bangladesh has cancelled the annual delivery anniversary celebration of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman together with a number of different nationwide holidays that the Sheikh Hasina authorities had launched, in accordance with an announcement by interim authorities.

Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh, introduced on X that eight nationwide holidays launched by Ms. Hasina can be cancelled, together with former president Rahman’s birthday that was celebrated on March 17.

Among the many holidays cancelled have been the “historic March 7” day, Mujibur Rahman’s birthday on March 17, the delivery anniversary of Sheikh Hasina’s brother on August 5, the delivery anniversary of Sheikh Hasina’s mom on August 8, the demise anniversary of Mujibur Rahman on August 15, the birthday of Sheikh Hasina’s youthful brother on October 18, Nationwide Structure Day on November 4 and Good Bangladesh Day on December 12.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Yunus was appointed the nation’s “chief adviser” after the student-led rebellion that toppled ex-premier Sheikh Hasina in August.

The 84-year-old microfinance pioneer is helming a brief administration, to deal with what he has referred to as the “extraordinarily robust” problem of restoring democratic establishments.
