Jerusalem:
Israeli police stated Thursday that they had arrested an Israeli couple on suspicion of spying for Iran, barely per week after two teams allegedly working for Tehran had been detained.
“The thwarting of Iran’s efforts to recruit Israelis continues,” stated an announcement from the police and Israel’s inner safety company, Shin Wager.
The 2 Israelis, a pair from the central metropolis of Lod, had been concerned in gathering intelligence on “nationwide infrastructures, safety websites and monitoring a feminine tutorial,” the assertion alleged.
“Rafael and Lala Goliev… residents of Lod, had been arrested after they carried out duties on behalf of an Iranian cell that recruits Israelis from the Caucasus nations in Israel.”
Police charged that the couple had been recruited by Elshan (Elhan) Agayev, an Azerbaijani nationwide appearing on behalf of Iranian officers. It was unclear if Agayev is predicated in Israel.
They alleged that the Golievs carried out surveillance of delicate Israeli websites, together with the headquarters of Israel’s Mossad spy company, and picked up intelligence on a tutorial working on the Institute for Nationwide Safety Research in Tel Aviv.
