One soldier has been killed and 4 are lacking after their tank met with an accident throughout a river-crossing train close to the Line of Precise Management in Leh’s Daulat Beg Oldi space within the early hours of Saturday, officers stated.

A Junior Commissioned Officer, or JCO, is among the many 5 killed within the accident that occurred round 1 am.

The troopers have been on a coaching mission and have been crossing the Bodhi River close to Mandir Morh, 148 kilometres from Leh, on their T-72 tank when immediately the water ranges started to rise, official sources stated. Quickly the tank and the troopers have been submerged within the swelling river, they added.

A rescue operation has been launched.
